Winy

Comparison - Workflow automation platform

Winy vs n8n

n8n wires apps and AI into workflows that run without you; Winy is a canvas where you think and work alongside live agents.

n8n is a workflow automation platform where you connect 500+ apps, AI models and AI agents in a visual editor, then run the workflows on n8n Cloud or on your own servers.

Winy is a native infinite-canvas notebook for Mac, iPad and iPhone, where real agent sessions such as Claude Code and Codex sit on the board as live cards next to your notes, ink and images.

They solve different problems: n8n is for work that should run unattended, and Winy is for work where you stay in the loop, so if you searched for an n8n alternative to automate a process, Winy is not that.

Which one is for you

Choose n8n if

  • You want a process to run on its own, on a trigger, every time, without you watching.
  • You need to connect business apps and APIs and move data between them.
  • You want AI agents inside production workflows, self-hosted on your own infrastructure if you like.

Choose Winy if

  • The work needs your judgment as it goes, and you want to watch and steer agents rather than set them loose.
  • You think with notes, sketches and a Pencil, and want that thinking on the same board as the agents and visible to them.
  • You want every Claude Code or Codex session at a glance on one canvas, on your Mac, iPad and iPhone.

Using both

They fit at different points: you can work out a process with agents on a Winy board, then hand the repeatable part to an n8n workflow. Winy runs any CLI agent, and that agent can use whatever tools it is configured with, so an agent on the board can call n8n workflows that you have exposed over MCP or a webhook.

Questions

Is Winy an n8n alternative?

Not for automation. n8n runs workflows on triggers and schedules without you, and Winy has no triggers, schedules or app connectors. Winy is for the work you do live with agents, on a canvas next to your notes.

Can Claude Code use n8n?

n8n can expose a workflow as an MCP server with its MCP Server Trigger, and any MCP client can call it. A Claude Code session running on a Winy board can use it the same way it would in a terminal, if you configure that server for it.

Is n8n free?

The self-hosted Community edition is free and has almost the full feature set. n8n Cloud starts at 20 EUR a month billed yearly for Starter, with Pro at 50 EUR a month.

Is n8n open source?

n8n's source code is public on GitHub, under its Sustainable Use License, with enterprise features under a separate license. That is source-available rather than a standard open-source license.

Thinking is Winning

Think with your agents.

Winy is a Mac, iPad and iPhone canvas where you think and work with AI agents in one place. Better thinking in, better output.
