Claude Code GUIs compared

Anthropic's own desktop app and ten other apps that put a window around Claude Code, side by side on platforms, phones, worktrees, notes and price.

A Claude Code GUI gives the terminal agent a window: sessions you can see side by side, approvals you can click, and often other agents such as Codex next to it.

They come in roughly three shapes. Session managers (Claude Code Desktop, opcode, CloudCLI, Nimbalyst) organize sessions and files; parallel workspaces (Conductor, Superset, crystl, AgentsRoom) give each agent its own task, often its own git worktree; and canvases (Maestri, AgentGrid, Winy) lay agents out on a board you arrange.

We make Winy. It sits in this table on the same terms as the others, and it is not the best pick on every row: it has no worktrees or diff review, and it runs on Apple devices only.

Side by side

Every fact about another tool comes from its maker's own site, docs, pricing page or GitHub repo, checked on October 13, 2026, and listed under Sources at the end. "Not documented" means the maker's docs do not say, not that the feature is missing. Prices are per month unless marked, in the maker's currency.

Which one is for you

Choose Claude Code Desktop if

Anthropic's own app

  • You only use Claude Code and want Anthropic's own app, included in your plan, with worktrees, line comments on diffs and pull request monitoring built in.

Winy vs Claude Code Desktopcode.claude.com/docs/en/desktop

Choose AgentGrid if

Agent canvas workspace

  • You want a master agent to break a task down and run a team of worker agents in visible panes on one canvas, on macOS, Windows or Linux.

Winy vs AgentGridagentgrid.sh

Choose AgentsRoom if

Multi-agent command center

  • You juggle many projects and want agents with roles, a backlog that spawns them, and iOS or Android apps to steer them from your phone.

Winy vs AgentsRoomagentsroom.dev

Choose CloudCLI if

Web UI, also known as Claude Code UI

  • You want a free, open-source interface in the browser that you host yourself and can open from your phone, or a hosted one on CloudCLI Cloud.

cloudcli.ai

Choose Conductor if

Parallel agent manager

  • You want every agent in its own worktree and branch, set up for you, and then walked through diff review to a pull request and a merge, on a Mac.

Winy vs Conductorconductor.build

Choose crystl if

Multitasking terminal for agents

  • You want a Mac terminal built for many agents at once, with approvals popping up as floating cards and an iPhone app to answer them.

Winy vs crystlcrystl.dev

Choose Maestri if

Agent canvas app

  • You want agents on a canvas that prompt each other through cables, with web pages or the iOS Simulator beside them, and a one-time price.

Winy vs Maestrithemaestri.app

Choose Nimbalyst if

Visual workspace for coding agents

  • You want visual editors for Markdown, diagrams and mockups next to your agents, and to approve every AI edit as a diff.

Winy vs Nimbalystnimbalyst.com

Choose opcode if

Claude Code desktop GUI

  • You want a free, open-source desktop browser for past Claude Code sessions, with usage charts and checkpoints, and you are fine that its last release was in August 2025.

Winy vs opcodeopcode.sh

Choose Superset if

Parallel agent workspace

  • You want a worktree per task and side-by-side diffs through to a merge, with a CLI, an SDK and an MCP server to automate it.

Winy vs Supersetsuperset.sh

Choose Winy if

Canvas for thinking with agents

  • You think with notes and a Pencil and want your agents as live cards on that same board, visible to them, on your Mac, iPad and iPhone.
  • You want to keep Claude Code in your own terminal: Winy attaches to the sessions you already run, with pickers as buttons and a conversation view.

Questions

Is there an official Claude Code GUI?

Yes. Anthropic's Claude desktop app has a Code tab that runs Claude Code sessions with a graphical interface, on macOS and Windows, with Linux in beta, and it needs a paid Claude plan. Every other app on this page comes from another company.

Which Claude Code GUI works on an iPad?

Winy opens its full board on iPad and iPhone, with the Mac running the agents. Superset's iPhone and iPad app comes with Pro, Nimbalyst's iOS app starts, resumes and approves sessions, Anthropic's Claude app continues a session through Remote Control, and CloudCLI runs in the browser.

Which Claude Code GUIs are open source?

Nimbalyst is MIT licensed, and opcode and CloudCLI are AGPL-3.0. Superset's source is on GitHub under the Elastic License 2.0.

Which Claude Code GUIs also run Codex?

AgentGrid, AgentsRoom, CloudCLI, Conductor, crystl, Maestri, Nimbalyst, Superset and Winy all run Codex as well. Claude Code Desktop and opcode run Claude Code only.

Is opcode, formerly Claudia, still maintained?

Its last tagged release is v0.2.0 from August 2025, and its README still says release executables will be published soon. Check its GitHub repo for anything newer before relying on it.

Can a GUI attach to a Claude Code session already running in my terminal?

Claude Code Desktop does not: its docs say it does not move a session that is open in another terminal, and /desktop hands a session over by exiting the CLI. Winy attaches to the sessions you already run, so nothing has to move. The other tools' docs do not say they can.

Thinking is Winning

Think with your agents.

Winy is a Mac, iPad and iPhone canvas where you think and work with AI agents in one place. Better thinking in, better output.
