Comparison - Agent canvas app
Winy vs Maestri
Both put coding agents on an infinite canvas beside your notes; Maestri wires agents to each other, Winy carries the whole board to your iPad and iPhone.
Maestri is a desktop app, native on the Mac and also out for Windows and Linux, where each terminal running Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or a plain shell is a node on an infinite canvas next to sticky notes, sketches and embedded browser windows.
Winy is a canvas notebook for Mac, iPad and iPhone, where real agent sessions like Claude Code and Codex sit on the board as live cards beside your notes, Pencil ink, arrows and images.
They are the closest pair in this space: Maestri leans into agents working together, with cables that let one agent prompt another, while Winy leans into the notebook, with the same board on every Apple device and extra depth for Claude Code.

Which one is for you
Choose Maestri if
- You want agents to talk to each other: draw a cable and a builder can hand work to a reviewer, even across different agent CLIs.
- You want to test on the canvas itself, with web pages, the iOS Simulator or an Android emulator in Portals that connected agents can click and type into.
- You work on Windows or Linux as well as the Mac, or want Floors to give an agent its own git worktree or a throwaway copy of the project.
- You want it free for one workspace, or a one-time $18 Pro license instead of a subscription.
Choose Winy if
- You want the whole board on your iPad and iPhone, not a remote control: the same canvas, agent cards and Pencil ink on every device, synced over your own network.
- You think with a Pencil, and want to write and draw anywhere on the board, straight across a running terminal if you like.
- You already run Claude Code in a terminal and want Winy to attach to those sessions, so nothing has to move.
- You want Claude Code's pickers as buttons on the card, plus square status lights and a one-line summary of what each agent is doing.
Questions
What is Maestri?
Maestri is a desktop app for orchestrating coding agents on an infinite canvas. Each terminal is a node you place next to notes, sketches and browser windows, and you connect terminals with cables so the agents can prompt each other.
What is the difference between Winy and Maestri?
Both put agents on a canvas beside your notes. Maestri focuses on agents collaborating through connections, Portals and Floors, and runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. Winy focuses on the notebook: Pencil ink, the same board on Mac, iPad and iPhone, and Claude Code extras like pickers as buttons and attaching to sessions you already run.
Is there a Maestri alternative for iPad?
Maestri's iPhone and iPad app, Maestri Remote, is a companion in TestFlight beta for watching agents, answering prompts and typing into a terminal. Winy opens the full board on iPad and iPhone, with the Mac running the agents.
Is Maestri free?
The Free plan includes one workspace with unlimited agents and all features. Pro is a one-time $18 for unlimited workspaces on up to two devices, with a 7-day trial. Maestri is also available through Setapp.
Does Maestri work with Claude Code and Codex?
Yes. Maestri does not include its own agent; its terminals run Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or a plain shell that you install yourself. Winy works the same way, with no model of its own.
